A Gigi Del Neri non piace cambiare. Così almeno dicono la statistiche: l'allenatore nerazzurro è quello che ha effettuato meno sostituzioni di tutti in serie A. Su 42 cambi possibili, in 14 partite Del Neri ha gettato nella mischia un uomo della panchina soltanto in 36 occasioni.
Anche contro la Lazio, il tecnico non si è smentito: inserito De Ascentis subito dopo l'1-0, ha fatto entrare Rivalta per Doni a un minuto dalla fine, rinunciando così alla terza sostituzione. Segno che l'allenatore si fida degli uomini che manda in campo e difficilmente stravolge l'assetto in corsa. L'aspetto negativo è che forse la panchina non gli offre sempre adeguate alternative: in questo hanno senza dubbio inciso gli infortuni che have plagued the Nerazzurri in the first half of the season.
